Dr. Brad McCoy, DDS, graduated from the University of Alberta in 1999 and is a proud member of the Alberta Dental Association and College. While Dr. McCoy enjoys all aspects of dentistry, his favourite practices are esthetic dentistry, orthodontics, endodontics, emergency dentistry and dental implant surgery. He loves being able to help patients alleviate dental pain, while also creating Hollywood smiles! He also enjoys performing esthetic makeovers using Botox and Veneers.
Having been a Fort McMurray resident for over two decades, Dr. McCoy, his wife and their five children are active members of the community through coaching and partaking in youth sports, like hockey, baseball, swimming, skiing, and dance. He is passionate about contributing to the community through sponsorships, fundraisers, and volunteer work. Dr. McCoy is ecstatic about helping you achieve your dream smile and fulfilling all your dental needs.
Dr. Athenie Brake grew up in Stephenville, Newfoundland. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1994 and her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, in 1998. She has won many awards over the years, such as the Governor-General of Canada Award.
With so many of her family members and childhood friends living in Fort McMurray, she decided to relocate to Alberta in December 2009. She loves running marathons, yoga, playing sports such as Basketball, exploring new hiking trails and skating.
Dr. Brake is a general dentist that enjoys many aspects of Dentistry, such as Children’s dentistry, Cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign, root canals, and implants. She enjoys taking courses to enhance her Family dentistry skills that allow patients to feel at ease and give Patients Confidence to Smile. She has travelled Globally, taking restorative and cosmetic dentistry courses at centres such as NYU in Manhattan, NYC, Anaheim, California, San Diego, California and Las Vegas. She looks forward to helping you and your family achieve your dental needs.
Dr Gregory Paul was raised in the nation’s capital and is the oldest of three siblings. He first took an interest in dentistry at a young age while observing at his father’s prosthodontics practice. Seeing the knowledge, finesse and relationship-building involved first-hand, he knew dentistry was the path for him.
Dr. Paul completed his Bachelor of Science in Physiology at the University of Ottawa before pursuing dentistry at University College Cork in Ireland. Dr. Paul has practiced in both private and public dental care settings in the Yukon, serving Whitehorse and smaller remote northern communities. Dr. Paul has since relocated to Fort McMurray with his wife and rescue dog, Izzy.
Dr. Paul loves building meaningful connections with his patients while raising awareness around dental health. He aims to always make his patients feel heard and well cared for. In his spare time, Dr. Paul is also passionate about travelling, baseball, and snowboarding.
In 2009, Farrah and her family moved to Fort McMurray. Since then, Fort Mac has become a place for her to call home. She’s found that it’s the people that make any place feel like home with their familiar faces and smiles. After high school, she moved to Toronto to pursue her dental hygiene career. She graduated from Toronto College of Dental Hygiene and Auxiliaries, where she met lifelong friends. As a registered dental hygienist, she is dedicated to working closely with her patients to help them achieve a healthy, confident smile and achieve sustainable, overall oral health. Outside work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends- especially with her dog, Diesel.
Our Dental Hygienist, Janelle, has been with us since August 2009! She graduated with a diploma in dental hygiene in 2009 from Oulton College in New Brunswick, made a move to Fort McMurray, and has been with us at Maxx Dental ever since. Each year she completes continuing education and has completed additional certifications, including local anesthesia and periodontal laser therapy. She takes pride in providing quality and comfortable dental care. Janelle is a cheerful and easy-going mother of two, who enjoys travelling and spending time at her lake cottage.
Sarah was born and raised in Wabush, NL, and she also Lived in Ontario for ten years, where she completed her diploma in dental assisting and an advanced diploma in dental hygiene. She worked as a level II dental assistant in Ontario for four years. After graduating, she moved to St. John’s, NL, where she practiced as an RDH for three years before moving to Alberta with her husband. Sarah is proud to call Alberta her new home and looks forward to many years here. She is passionate about oral health as well as nutrition and overall wellness. Sarah loves working with patients to improve their health and strives to make them feel comfortable and their experiences as enjoyable as possible. Outside of the practice, she loves to be outdoors with her husband and daughter. She also enjoys arts/crafts, painting and doing pottery in her free time.
Mallory grew up in PEI but has called Fort McMurray home for the last 3.5 years. She graduated from Algonquin College in Ottawa in 2018 with an advanced diploma in dental hygiene. She has been a part of the Maxx Dental family since 2019. If you’ve been in her chair and you’ve worked together before, you’ll know that she has a gentle holistic approach to treating her patients. Mallory is passionate about the importance and relationship between oral health and whole-body health. In her holistic health journey, she has come across another passion in craniosacral therapy- which she is currently pursuing and is so excited to bring to the community. On her days off, you will find her in the yoga studio or outside. The mountains are always calling!
