Cosmetic injectables in fact, are made of a toxin produced by the bacterium clostridium botulinum, which has the effect of stopping muscle and nerve function around areas with heavy wrinkles, relaxing the area and smoothing out the face. Many of our patients ask for cosmetic injectables at the corners of their eyes to reduce “crow’s feet,” or on the forehead, where horizontal lines are apt to form as we age. We also commonly administer cosmetic injectables between the eyes, where vertical wrinkles often form, and on chin creases.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING MY TREATMENT?
Our staff will first discuss with you the results you hope to achieve with your cosmetic injectables. After taking a look at your facial muscles, we’ll use a micro-fine needle to administer the cosmetic injectables into the muscle that is causing each wrinkle. You’ll feel a small sting, but nothing worse, which is why no anesthetic is necessary. This fast and easy procedure will take 15 to 20 minutes, after which you can resume your normal daily activities, even going back to work after a lunchtime treatment if you choose. You may experience some bruising immediately after your treatment.
HOW LONG DO COSMETIC INJECTABLES LAST?
The face-smoothing effects of cosmetic injectables will last up to 4 months and will wear off gradually, so you don’t have to worry about appearing wrinkle-free one day and creased the next. We suggest cosmetic injectables about 3 times per year, but this can be customized to meet your unique needs.
